osman yousefzada, aimee mcwilliams at london fashion weekThursday, 20 September 2007 Kissy kissy everyone, what a wonderful day it has been with no less than three great shows in one manageable day... Osman Yousefzada for breakfast, Aimee McWilliams just before lunch and Hannah Marshall for tea (this update tomorrow). Osman was refreshing, confident, beautiful - just really a great show. For the first time he gave tailored white shirts a prominent role in his collections, which will quickly make it into rather stylish wardrobe basics. And then, and I never thought I'd write this sentence, Osman did candy stripes. Stripes! As in Brighton and in lollipops. They peaked out from underneath silk skirts and as tight rollnecks on pretty dresses. But seriously - candy stripes... The colours were as upbeat as the stripes. Apart from Osman's most amazing blue, pink and crisp white he went deeper into the paint pot for a rich fuchsia, teal green and sumptuous purple. In general it looks as though the colour theme is going to stick with us for next season. Anyway, here are some pictures.
Next up was the sweet and talented Aimee McWilliams. Her show consisted of a video shown in the background and a well-edited collection on the catwalk. The sharpest of sharp tailoring was executed in shiny raw silk and satin fabrics for either fitted shorts or all-out trousers suits. Short puffy skirts and dresses featured strong silver buckles at the belts and straps. And there was the occasional piece of luxurious, relaxed knitwear as well as the most stunning metalic leather pieces. The colour palette was kept clean with lime green, black and copper. Aimee received huge cheers for a flawless collection. Here are some (very wonky) pictures.
