Sam had it all planned out, aged 10. Run a beach hut near Barcelona, with mummy nearby, watch the sunlight dance on the waves, girls (even though they were still stupid) play beach volleyball and his favourite football team on the weekends. It was perfect.
And then his dad ruined it all (British – what can you expect). He gave Sam a camera when he was 11 and not on the beach that day, and much like Linus Peanuts never let go of his blanket, Sam never let go of his camera. It was the best excuse to watch the world - and the people - go by, apart from the hut. And while the Barcelona Beach Hut community lost their brightest protégé to some stupid black box with a mildly clever light-processing mechanism, Sam bravely embraced his new calling. With mummy’s lunchbox under one arm and a degree from Nottingham Trent under the other, Sam set out to become a commercial photographer. A very good one as it turned out, who now shoots oil rigs in the oceans, fashion campaigns for edgy people and Average Joes across America. And with mum being a teacher, Sam is always so bloody well organised and never forgets so much as a lightbulp.
Sam likes milkshakes, flip-flops, penguins, football, Barcelona, everything Catalan, the smell of fig trees, a tidy flat/studio/street/world, and as it turns out celery.
Finding a replacement for Lola Mannequin was never going to be easy. We needed style, charisma, beauty and a killer figure. What do you know - M and P has an abundance of new faces on the board who fit the shop criteria like a glove. Together with Sam, these girls really bring the shop and the clothes to life.
